The story behind the song

(Written at the age of 17): An imaginary story of a girl whose goals and aspirations have never been met. She questions her faith and asks why her dreams have never come true. Clearly, she has reasons to feel frustrated.

This song is for me a way to reflect on the true nature of faith and how, far from simply being about prayers and going to one’s place of worship, faith requires us to constantly follow our intuitions that move us to explore new paths in life and entice us each day to act upon our dreams.

Lyrics / Letra

Lonely under the falling stars in the sky
In a world of mysteries and thoughts
She stood in front of the mirror lake
Where all the emotions were visible
Memories all over her head were flying
Like the autumn leaves that wind blows everywhere

She always asked herself why along her life
Her expectations rarely came true
She was so confused; she needed answers to her questions
But she couldn’t do anything at all

There was something that she really needed
And that was a sense of faith
She called herself the unluckiest girl

Chorus
The sunset has done a call for those whose faith has been lost
Between the darkness that is getting more intense
Every time more people lose their faith
There was no response at all; the sound of silence spread everywhere
The calling no more lasted and a fearful voice
Screamed the cruel truth that nothing is going to be the same
As she saw with the eyes of conviction
The appearance of her life was that of failure
She asked herself again why if she had faith
Rarely her expectations came true; she prayed and prayed
Memories all over her head were flying
Like the autumn leaves that wind blows everywhere

Faith it’s more than going to one’s place of worship
Or saying I believe, I believe
That all is going to be how we want it to be until we see
That what we’ve awaited has not occurred

There was something that she really needed
And that was a sense of faith
She called herself the unluckiest girl
